As I may have mentioned before, there has been a George Samuel Allison alive in my family every year since 1830. Going backwards, my son is George Samuel Allison IV and my dad is George Samuel Allison III. My dad’s grandfather was George Samuel Allison II and his grandfather was the first George Samuel.

I’m lucky enough to have photos of Allison men dating back to about 1846. Well, a couple of the “photos” are scans from a book that was published in 1933 and one of the scans is of a daguerreotype that was printed in said book but it’s still pretty cool. At least to me.

My great-great-grandfather, Young Ewing Allison II (1853-1932), was a somewhat well-known writer, journalist and editor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. From all accounts (and there are several), he was well-liked and much admired.
